Creating different views for SharePoint 2007 Surveys

The one thing I dislike about MOSS 2007 Surveys is inability to create different views within the survey list settings itself.  Not sure why this was not included like other lists.  A simple create view from the settings option would have been nice, however its not there so I had to turn to other means of doing this.

I was tasked to create different views for MOSS 2007  survey so that the data can be separated by a specific category instead of having all the data reside in one view.

For me to accomplish this I had to use SharePoint Designer 2007.

1.  Using SharePoint Designer, open up the site that  has the SharePoint Survey List.
2.  Expand the List directoy(tree) and select the name of the Survey created within SharePoint.
3.  Expand the Survey directory(tree) and select the AllItems.aspx page.
4.  Right click and select copy.
5.  Click and highlight the name of the Survey directory (top of  the tree) again and right click and select paste.
6.  This will paste a copy of the AllItems.aspx page inside the Survey directory.
7.  Right click and rename the copy of the AllItems.aspx page to a different name, perferabley to a name of the new view.
8.   Go back to the SharePoint site that has the Survey List and navigate to the overview page.
9.   Click the drop down next to View on the right: and you will see a second entry for All Responses.
10.  Select the second occurance of the All Responses to change to that view.
11.  Next select Site Actions -> Edit Page
12.  The click Edit -> Modified Shared Web Part for the All Responses view webpart
13.  In the List View, click the Edit Current View link under selected view.
14.  As you can see the web address for the view is the name you gave it when you created it within SharePoint Designer.
15.  Now just change the View Name, select what columns you want to show, and make your sorts, filters, etc.
16.  Click Ok

Now when you go back to the Overview page for the Survey, and you select the drop down next to view you will see the name of the new View, clicking on it will take you to that view page with your view options.
